I know you must be thinking: ”She’s done it again: promised to keep posting in her blog, but after more than a month, NADA!” Well, unfortunately, I have a really good excuse…
This is supposed to be a place to talk about the progress we are making on our mountain home. However, little progress has been made since mid-December. The reason? I am fighting a debilitating condition that makes it almost impossible for me to walk without falling over! Manual dexterity is a thing of the past. I have trouble writing and typing, so sending Christmas cards was not an option. In fact, it would be fair to say that buttons and zippers are no longer my strong suit!
My neurologist says some of my symptoms are classic indicators of Parkinson’s disease, but with major exceptions. Thankfully, I don’t have tremors, and don’t walk with my hands plastered at my sides. My brain scans and blood tests are normal. I was hoping (believe it or not!) that I had Lyme’s disease (remember my experiences with the chiggers & ticks?), because it causes symptoms similar to what I am experiencing. But, no, apparently there will be no easy answers; my blood tested negative for that, too!
My hopes are high that we’ll discover this condition is due to some innocuous problem, like an inner ear blockage, or a pinched nerve in my neck. I pray that it’s not the result of a TIA (small stroke).
Regardless, the mountain home is a “no-whine zone”. Additionally, I’m pretty tough, and have every intention of overcoming this temporary hurdle.
Please stay tuned!
